Waste Management
GENERAL TERMS
All ships visiting the Port of Kantvik north key and south key are to follow these instructions. The guide does not apply to ships that are exempted from the mandatory delivery of ship-generated waste (proof of exemption must be presented to the port). Ships are charged a waste fee in accordance with the port's price list, regardless of whether the ship leaves ship-generated waste in the port or not.
Ships must leave all ship-generated waste and cargo residues at port reception facilities in accordance with the discharge provisions based on MARPOL 73/78. An advance notification of waste delivery must be given by ships through the PortNet system at least 24 hours before arrival to the port. If the travel time is less than 24 hours, the notification should be given immediately after leaving the previous port. The waste notification should also be sent to the Port Control by e-mail, so that a pick-up service can be ordered in advance for wastes for which there is no fixed waste reception facilities in the port.
