Safety measures
General safety
The port complies with the security regulations in IMO´s (International Maritime Organisation) ISPS code, issued on 1:st July 2004. The ID number of the port is 28141.
Land and sea areas
The port and its surrounding area is a restricted access and movement zone designated by the Ministry, where international ISPS security regulations also apply. Access to and presence in the area requires the permission of the landowner. Arrival at the port requires, among other things, completion of online safety training and advance arrival notification. Detailed instructions can be found here.
Vessel traffic
As a rule, arrival at the port does not require separate security arrangements for vessels holding a valid ISPS certificate. Vessels without an ISPS certificate that operate in international traffic and have a gross tonnage over 500 are obliged, together with the port authority, to prepare a Declaration of Safety (DoS).
A DoS is also required if the security levels of the vessel and the terminal differ. More information on the ISPS security regulations can be found here.
Airspace, Drone
A UAS (drone) ban is in effect in the area. Flying a drone within the area requires a separate flight permit.
Drone flight permit applications should be sent to the email address turvakoordinaattori.inkoo@seclion.fi.
For more information on the port’s security regulations, contact the port security officer (ISPS PSO) Jani Nordman, phone: +358 400 396 044, email: jani.nordman@inkooshipping.fi.
Inkoo LNG Terminal
Operator:
Floating LNG Terminal Finland Oy
Address:
Voimalaitoksentie 30, 10210 Inkoo
At the Inkoo LNG Terminal, liquefied natural gas (LNG) is received, stored, and vaporized for injection into the natural gas transmission network.
The facility’s operational activities take place on the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU).
Liquefied natural gas mainly consists of methane (CH4) and is liquefied by cooling natural gas to a temperature of -163 °C.
The maximum amount of LNG stored at the terminal is 75,000 tons.
Potential hazards
Liquefied natural gas is odorless, colorless, non-toxic, and non-corrosive. In its liquid form, it is not flammable.
When warming, LNG vaporizes into natural gas, which is lighter than air and disperses quickly. The vaporized gas can form a flammable mixture when mixed with air.
The most serious potential hazards at the LNG Terminal are considered to be situations where an LNG or gas leak results in a natural gas cloud that could ignite.
If a gas cloud ignites, the hazard zones of the resulting flash fire can extend up to 50 m outside the facility area. In case of an accident, the isolation boundary extends up to 150 m outside the facility area. A short-lived flash fire retreats to the leak source as a pool or jet fire. A potential pool or jet fire does not cause significant effects beyond the terminal area.
In case of leaks or accidents related to the LNG Terminal, contact Gasgrid’s central control room emergency number at +358 5 3751 555 or the emergency services. 112.
